How do I configure LockInfo?
LockInfo settings can be found in the standard Settings application. There you can select which plugins to include, in what order and how.
How does InfoShade work?
InfoShade is a new feature in LockInfo 2.1 that allows you to see your LockInfo screen anywhere on your device. By default, you tap and hold your finger in the status bar when your phone is unlocked and a "shade" will slide down from the top of your screen to show you your LockInfo screen. You can configure a variety of gestures to activate InfoShade through the settings (it uses Activator).
My calendar/emails aren't showing up on my lockscreen. What's wrong?
Most likely, you added the account/calendar after LockInfo was installed. Go to Settings->LockInfo and look under Calendar/Mail and make sure the account/calendar is activated.
What does the "Homescreen" setting do?
"Homescreen" lets you put the same information you have on your lockscreen on the first page of your SpringBoard.
What popups are blocked by the "Block Popups" setting?
"Block Popups" will block SMS, VoiceMail, Missed Calls and Calendar popups on the lockscreen only. It does not affect any popups when your phone is unlocked.
What does "Full Screen" do?
Full screen mode will hide the default clock and slider on the lockscreen and allow LockInfo to use more space on the lockscreen. You can still unlock your device by swiping across the bottom of the device screen like you would with the slider.

If you would like to have the slider on the screen but hide the clock, take a look at Clock Hide in Cydia.
What does "Extend to Botton" do?
"Extend to Bottom" will make the LockInfo view extend to the bottom of the lockscreen. This is handy for people that use smaller custom unlock sliders.
Do I need WinterBoard to use LockInfo?
No, WinterBoard is not required. There are several parts of LockInfo that can be customized by WinterBoard but it is not required.
Can I theme LockInfo?
Yes, you can! You can theme certain parts of the native interface or you can go hog-wild with a full HTML theme. HTML themes are outside the scope of this FAQ (but I'll be posting information on that later). You can theme:
  • Section icons - Each plugin contains a section_icon.png file. This is the default image that will show to the left of the header title. To theme this, create a bundle directory for the plugin's bundle identifier (look in the Info.plist file) and put your new icon there. One exception is the phone plugin, which has two separate icons, call_icon.png for missed calls and voicemail_icon.png for voicemails. Section icons look best if they are 16x16.

  • Section headers - Section headers are images named section_header.png. There is a master section header image in the com.ashman.LockInfo bundle and you can have a custom header for each plugin too by putting a different header image in the plugin's bundle directory as instructed above. Section headers should be 320x22.

More themeing options will be added in future releases including font sizes and colors.

You can download a sample theme here.
I keep seeing references to Matte UI and Gruppled themes. What are they?
Early in LockInfo's development, the info screens were exclusively drawn as HTML themes. Two themes grew to be the most popular: Matte UI and Gruppled. Native rendering, which uses iPhone native UIKit tables, which tend to save memory and are more predictable than the HTML themes, was added later.

Some people prefer the customizability of the HTML themes. LockInfo still supports those themes too. You can find links to those themes on www.macthemes2.net.
Where can I find them and how do I install them?
Most plugins will be available on ModMyI along with LockInfo once they are done. There are a couple of beta versions of Things and Todo (only compatible with Matte UI) available on http://david.ashman.com/beta/. Once they are converted to native rendering, they will be moved to ModMyI.

To install the plugin, just use Cydia to install the package. After it's installed, go to the LockInfo settings in the Settings app to configure the plugin.
How to I configure the WeatherIcon plugin?
  • Make sure you have the latest available version (right now, it's on the same BETA source as LockInfo).
  • Make sure you configure the default iPhone weather application so that the first location is the location you want the weather for.
  • Make sure either status bar temp or weather icon are active. One of them needs to be active to get weather updates.
  • In the LockInfo settings, enable the WeatherIcon plugin.
  • If you want to see icons for the current weather condition, make sure to install a WeatherIcon theme from Cydia.
How do I write my own plugin?
I will be releasing the public API soon.
When I install the Clock/Twitter/etc plugin from Cydia, my screen says "Native rendering is not supported". What does that mean?
LockInfo supports two methods of showing your information: Native and HTML. Native tends to be faster and less memory intensive. HTML offers more customizability and there are several Javascript plugins for HTML rendering that are not currently supported in native rendering. That message means the plugin doesn't support native rendering yet.

There are several HTML themes for LockInfo available. Search Cydia for options.
I have popups blocked in LockInfo, but I still see SMS popups. What's wrong?
There is a conflict between LockInfo and iBlacklist where iBlacklist is overriding the blocking logic. The interim solution is to turn on iBlacklist->Extras->SMS Privacy. Popups will be blocked again.
My mail doesn't update on the lockscreen when I read/delete an email. What's going on?
LockInfo hooks directly into the Mail app to get mail updates for your lockscreen. If you do not have the Mail app running in the background, LockInfo will not get any updates. Also, you may notice a very short delay (<1 second) between seeing the mail icon in your status bar (assuming you are using a notifier extension) and the mail showing in your lockscreen since the notifier is looking for badge changes and LI needs to wait for a fetch to complete to update the screen.
My phone crashed. I think LockInfo broke it. What do I do?
First, don't panic. Second, install Crash Reporter from cydia and send a crash log for the last SpringBoard crash to iphone-support@ashman.com.
I already paid for LockInfo but my phone still says I'm using a trial license.
Most likely, there was an issue communicating with the server to download your license. Click "Check License" to see if the license has been synchronized yet. You should receive an email once the license has been created.
I'm not happy with LockInfo. Can I get a refund?
Sure, as long as it's been less than 30 days since you purchased your license. Due to fees charged by PayPal, refunds through PayPal will be reduced by $0.30 USD.
I already paid for LockInfo but I have a new phone/SIM. LockInfo is telling me I don't have a license.
Licenses are device specific. If you have a new device or new SIM card, you'll need to transfer your license. Click the "Buy Now" button in the LockInfo settings, and there will be an option to transfer your license. You can transfer your license three times before you will need to send me an email for additional support.
LockInfo has been free for me to use for months. Why does it cost $4.99 now?
LockInfo was only free during BETA testing. LockInfo has been in development and BETA testing for a long time due to the complexity of what the product does. The application is finally finishing up BETA testing and is now a commercial application.
I donated during development. Can I have a free license?
Sure! I'm thrilled to have people support me during development and would love to give you a license. Simply send an email through the "Help" button in the LockInfo settings and include when you made the donation and with what email address. I'll create the license and contact you with instructions.
